AWshifting is changing.
The Problem:
A full time job, a part time job, school, starting a family plus AWshifting has created a serious time crunch in my life. The major time
investments involved in this project have been communication and assembly of units, which has suffered greatly with extreme
busyness. There simply has been no time to assemble a handful of controllers and answer hundreds of emails every week. The
result has been poor customer service, and admittedly this is no way to run a business, so things are changing drastically.
The Solution:
By January 2009 AWshifting will be open source under a Creative Commons license. No more orders are being accepted, and the next few weeks
will be spent catching up on backorders. What does open source mean? That means all the information to create your own AWshifting controller
will be posted right here on this site. That's right, all of it. From parts lists to programs, you can make your own. Since small purchases of parts
and paying shipping from multiple suppliers quickly drives the cost up over $150, I will sell an un-assembled kit for under $100 allowing you to do
the assembly yourself with common tools. By eliminating communication and assembly needs, I will be able to ship kits within 48 hours of purchase.
